Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Modular Music School collects when you use modularmusicschool.com, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We’ve kept it as short as we can.
Who we are
Modular Music School publishes music technology teaching resources for schools. It is a trademark of Modular Music Education Ltd. This website is modularmusicschool.com.
For UK data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal information described on
this page. You can reach us at hello@modularmusicschool.com.
What we collect, and why
What we collect and why
When you contact us or sign up for updates. Our contact and sign-up forms collect your name, your email address and anything you choose to write in your message. We use them to reply to you and, if you signed up, to send occasional emails about new resources. Our legal basis is your consent (for updates) or our legitimate interest in answering you (for enquiries). Every update email has an unsubscribe link.
When you visit the site (only if you allow it). We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use the site: which pages get read, roughly which country visitors come from, what device they use, and whether they click through to buy. It only runs if you accept statistics cookies in our cookie banner. Google processes this data on our behalf. We don’t use it to identify you personally.
When you buy from us. Purchases on our own site are handled by Payhip, which takes payment (through Stripe or PayPal), collects any VAT due and delivers your files. Payhip receives your name, email address, billing country and payment details. We never see your full card details. Payhip’s own privacy policy covers how it handles your data. We receive a record of the order so that we can support you and handle refunds.
When you buy through TES or Teachers Pay Teachers. Those purchases are handled entirely by those platforms under their own privacy policies. We receive only limited order information from them.
Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work. We also use statistics cookies from Google Analytics, but only if you agree to them. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. For the full list of cookies, what each one does and how long it lasts, see our [Cookie Policy].
Other services the site relies on
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Hostinger, which stores site data and server logs on our behalf.
- Fonts. Some of our fonts are loaded from Adobe Fonts [and Google Fonts]. Loading them sends your IP address to Adobe [and Google] so the font can be delivered.
- Spam protection. Our forms use an anti-spam service to check submissions.
Where your data goes
Some of the services above (Google, Adobe, Payhip, Stripe and PayPal) may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
We never sell your data or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: up to 12 months after our last contact.
- Update emails: until you unsubscribe.
- Order records: 6 years, due to UK tax law requires.
- Analytics data: 14 months, then automatically deleted by Google.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask to see the data we hold about you. You can also ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it or send it to you in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object. Email hello@modularmusicschool.com and we’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we use data, for example when we start advertising, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
