Licence

Plain version first: buy a resource and you can use it with every class you teach, for as long as
you teach. Adapt it, print it, put it on your VLE. What we ask is that it stays with you rather
than being passed around a department that hasn’t paid for it.

The detail is below. If anything here is unclear, or your school needs something this page doesn’t

The standard licence

One licence covers one teacher, and all of the classes that teacher teaches.

If you have four iGCSE groups, one licence covers all four. If you teach the same resource again
next year, and the year after, it still covers you. There is no expiry and no limit on how many
times you use it.

You may

Use the resource with any class you teach.
Print copies for your students.
Share student-facing files through your school’s VLE, Google Classroom, Teams or equivalent, with
the classes you teach.
Display it on a board, screen or projector.
Edit and adapt it — see below.
Keep it. Buy once, use indefinitely.

Please don’t

Pass the files to colleagues who haven’t bought a licence. A department licence exists for this
and costs a lot less than four separate copies.
Upload it anywhere public, or to a resource-sharing site.
Sell it, or sell anything built from it.
Include it in training materials, courses or CPD you charge for, without asking us first.

None of this is meant to be precious. It is a small business run by one teacher, and the difference
between a resource being bought by a department and being forwarded around one is the difference
between this existing next year and not.

Adapting resources

Edit them freely. Buy direct from us and you get the editable source files precisely so you can.
Change the examples, swap the set work, cut the slides you don’t need, rewrite the tasks in your own
voice, translate them for a bilingual cohort.

Two things to know:

Your adapted version stays under this same licence. Editing doesn’t create a new resource you
can share or sell — it’s still covered by the licence you bought, with the same limits.
We’d love to hear what you changed. Not a requirement. But adaptations from real classrooms are
the single most useful thing for improving the next version, and we credit teachers who help.

If you change school

It depends who paid.

You bought it yourself — the licence is yours and it follows you. Take it to your new school
and carry on. You paid for it; it isn’t the school’s.
Your school bought it — a department or whole-school licence belongs to the school, and stays
there when you move. You’d need your own licence, or one from the new school.

If you’re unsure which applies, it’s usually whoever’s card or purchase order paid.

Department licence — 5 named teachers

For a department where more than one person teaches the course.

Covers five named teachers, each with all of their own classes.
You tell us the names when you buy. Changing a name later is free — just email modularmusicedu@gmail.com, for example
when someone joins or leaves.
The licence belongs to the school, not to the individuals named.
Everything in “You may” above applies to all five.

If you need more than five, the whole-school licence works out cheaper.

Whole-school licence

Covers every teacher at one school, with no need to name anyone.
Includes teaching assistants, cover staff and trainees working at that school.
One school site. A multi-site trust or group should talk to us — we’d rather quote something
sensible than have you buy several licences.
Available direct from us only, and invoiceable.

If you bought on TES or Teachers Pay Teachers

Resources bought through a marketplace are covered by that platform’s licence terms, not this
page. Those terms are generally similar, but where they differ, theirs apply to that purchase.

Buying direct gets you the editable source files, free updates for life, and the department and
whole-school options — none of which the marketplaces support.

What’s inside the resources

Our resources reference third-party software — BandLab, digital audio workstations, and similar.
Screenshots are used to teach the software, and the software itself remains the property of its
owner. Nothing in your licence gives you rights over those products.

Exam board specifications, mark schemes and assessment criteria belong to the awarding bodies. We
reference and interpret them; we don’t reproduce them wholesale, and you should always check the
current published specification yourself before teaching.
